SAFETY CURTAIN by Theo Adams Company

After the world premiere on Channel 4's 'Random Acts' we are proud to share with you Theo Adams Company's debut film project:

"Inspired by the ‘giallo’ Italian film genre, Theo Adams created a highly stylized ‘fake’ trailer for a non-existent movie. Including high camp elements of horror fiction and eroticism–this is the most dramatic film you’ll never see." Channel 4

Masumi Saito - Movement Diary by Theo Adams Company

Theo Adams Company’s choreographer, Masumi Saito has been creating a prolific series of short movement films with her husband and filmmaker Guy Wigmore over the past year in Japan.

Here is an explanation of the project in Masumi’s own words.

“I wanted to do something task-like, to force me to create. During this time in Japan I thought it was a perfect opportunity to do something throughout the year, to record the year through movement. There are strict rules: one take, no edits, no choreography, 63 seconds of movement, six 4-second shots of detail from the location. The movement also reflects this, showing how I feel on that day, both physically and mentally; how’s the weather, what else is happening in my life.”

THESPIS by Theo Adams Company

Thespis of Icaria, according to Aristotle, was the first person to take to the stage and portray someone other than himself. On 23rd November 534 BC Thespis wore a mask and performed as Dionysus, the god of ritual madness and religious ecstasy. It was at this moment that Tragedy was created. The ghost of Thespis is said to wreak havoc upon theatres all over the world to this day, especially on 23rd November each year.

On 23rd November 2015, the Theo Adams Company united a group of performers to create a series of theatrical characters to summon the ghost of Thespis.

“Born, raised and based in London, performer Theo Adams is a one-of-a-kind creative genius who redefines the notion of what theatre is and can be. Working along with his eponymous company, which numbers at least twenty other artists from any and every stage discipline, Adams has been building a legendary international reputation.  Pioneering an idiosyncratic fusion of opulent spectacle and experimental improvisation, his vision is fuelled by a passionate conviction about the transformative powers of ritualized catharsis. Attracting fascinated attention and earning fawning accolades simultaneously from the art, theatre and fashion worlds, his unapologetic brand of fearless self-expression draws inspiration from disparate sources, ranging from drag to Hollywood and onnagata to Broadway, for a deeply moving theatrical experience that transcends all the forms it borrows from. “

SOS - Ed Marler by Theo Adams Company

The Theo Adams Company created the Theatrical Direction for Ed Marler's SS16 presentation at London Fashion Week.

Vogue.com Editors and Contributors on Their Favorite Spring 2016 Moments-

"It was great to see so many super-organized “big” shows in London—Erdem,J.W.Anderson, Christopher Kane, Simone Rocha, and Mary Katrantzou—but rounding a corner in grungy Soho and walking into this “postapocalyptic” backstreet scene by Ed Marler was my best surprise of the week. Less a show or a presentation than a half-theatrical happening, these girls, dressed in their defiantly decaying finery, were pacing a cul-de-sac, lost in their own demented world—with some pretty fabulous bags and crowns in the bargain. “The collection’s called S.O.S.,” said Marler. “I imagined they were the last people left, and had scrabbled their clothes together from works of art.” I loved it that spontaneous, on-a-shoestring fashion can literally spring up on the street in London, in the time-honored Central Saint Martins style (Marler graduated two years ago), but it’s also cheering to see such small-fry designers swimming right ahead into creating emotional experiences. Marler worked with Theo Adams Company, a young theater direction company, to make this moment!" Sarah Mower, Vogue.com Chief Critic
